No oversnow transport is required, which provides our guests with a considerable saving. On arrival at Falls Creek in Winter, guests can park on the road (Bogong High Plains Road) in day parking spaces directly below the lodge while they unload and similarly on the day of your departure. If the roads are clear of snow, you can even ask the car park attendant as you enter the resort for a 30-minute pass to enter the village and drop off your luggage at the lodge in Snowgums Lane. Once you’ve dropped off your things, go back to the car parking attendant point and you’ll be ushered to a car park. Frequently, guests can make use of long-term parking areas very near to the lodge. From there you can either walk back to the lodge, or a shuttle service will transport you back (see map). In the off-season, guests can park right at the lodge steps.

Please check in after 4pm. If you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage in the left-luggage depot outside the lodge and speak to one of our managers about how soon your room can be available. On the day of your departure you are asked to vacate your room by 2pm.

Yes during the Snow Season. Details on our lodge managers are here. They will give you a warm welcome when you arrive and will be happy to answer any queries you may have during your stay.

At Chorki, if you expect to arrive later in the evening, on arrival just check the notice board inside the front foyer, which will include details about your room.

Yes, there is a guest laundry opposite the drying room. The drying room will dry ski gear overnight. Laundry can also be hung in the drying room if needed. Laundry powder is available.

Yes, see booking conditions. Please clean your room before you leave at the end of your stay so that it’s ready for other guests. You will also be asked to carry out one or two other small duties, which are allocated room by room to help keep the facility looking clean and tidy. These duties are outlined on a notice in your room. Cleaning materials, including cloths and sprays, are kept in each room and mops are kept in the laundry. The lodge has a ducted vacuum system and hoses can be found in the laundry and in the corridor on the upper level. If you have any questions please speak to one of our managers/booking officers.

Yes, we have wi-fi throughout the lodge for the convenience of our guests. Password details are located on the lodge notice board. You are also welcome to bring your own Internet cable to plug directly into several Internet outlets throughout the lodge.

We have a drying room for guests opposite the laundry. You can hang up your clothes and place your gloves and scarves in the spaces provided. Please ensure your gear/hangers are not left on the floor so that all our guests can enjoy the facilities. This is also an important safety measure.

Yes, we have ski/board and boot storage rooms, located inside the lodge near the entrance. Please place your skis/poles, boards and boots neatly in the spaces provided and make sure they’re not left on the floor. This ensures our guests can easily find their own gear each morning and is an important safety measure.

THERE is a NO SMOKING policy at Chorki Ski Lodge. This includes the outside balconies and around the property.

Yes! At Chorki, the upstairs mezzanine area is set aside as a games and TV area for kids and adults alike. We also have a small supply of board games, including chess tables, and some DVDs.

No, there is no petrol station at Falls Creek. Mt Beauty, at the base of the mountain about 33km away, has the closest petrol stations. We recommend guests fill up on fuel before making their way up the mountain. In winter, we recommend diesel vehicles fill up with alpine diesel and check their anti-freeze at a local petrol station prior to starting up the mountain to make sure your vehicle works correctly in the cold conditions.

Yes, it is a legal requirement for all vehicles, including 2WD and 4WD, to carry a pair of snow chains even when the roads are clear during the designated ski season. Snow chains can be hired or bought from various ski hire and service stations on your way to Falls Creek ie at Myrtleford, Bright and Mount Beauty. There are designated snow chain fitting bays on the mountain ascent so make sure you know how to fit your chains. Bring a torch, towel and plastic sheet as you never know what time of day or in what conditions you will need to fit your chains!

Alpine weather is unpredictable and conditions can change quickly. We suggest you wear your clothing in layers, with insulating clothes on the inside and wind and waterproof clothing on the outside. Several thin layers made of wool or synthetic fibres such as polar fleece have better insulation properties than thick bulky layers.[clear] [clear]Always wear high protection sunscreen as it’s very easy to get sunburnt while skiing, even on overcast days. We recommend guest bring/hire the following:

  • Waterproof/windproof jacket, pants and gloves
  • Waterproof footwear with good grip
  • Sunglasses and goggles
  • Beanie and neck warmer or scarf
  • Thermal socks and underwear
  • Warm clothing to wear underneath your waterproof gear such as polar fleece jumpers and vests, woollen tops/jumpers and warm trousers. Jeans are fine to wear indoors.

Most restaurants, cafes and retail outlets at Falls Creek have EFTPOS facilities. There are also on-mountain ATM machines located at the Frying Pan Inn, in the Village bowl, and at Gebis Ski Hire, at the base of the Gully Chairlift.

The ski season officially starts on the Queen’s Birthday weekend each year and finishes around the start of October if the snow lasts.

Falls Creek has a modern medical centre, but it is not a bulk-billing clinic. If you have an existing medical condition that may require attention while at Falls Creek we suggest you check that the medical centre can cater for your needs prior to booking your holiday. The nearest hospital is off-mountain in Mount Beauty, roughly 45 minutes away. The medical centre’s contact details can be found on the Falls Creek Resort Management web site.

It is very easy to get around by foot in Falls Creek. It’s a great way to get some exercise in, and it’s also a special way to see the village up close, especially when the lodges are covered in icicles and snow. A free shuttle service also circulates around the village and operates seven days a week during winter, between 8am and 5:30pm, with the closest a pick up and drop off point to Chorki being on Slalom Street (near Pretty Valley Lodge above Slalom Plaza).

There is also a free village bus, which also operates seven days a week during winter, between 8am and 5:30pm and links all the main carparks together. The closest pick up and drop off point to Chorki is at the front of Slalom Plaza. This can be a handy way of getting quickly from the lodge down to the Gully Chair if you don’t want to walk. The Gully Chairlift is a free service which operates between 8am and 5pm and provides access to the village bowl.

It’s easy – you walk about 250m down Snowgums Lane until you get to Slalom Plaza.
